Description from the Artist:

"Each person’s life is like a mandala – a vast, limitless circle. We stand in the center of our own circle, and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life."    Pema Chodron
This series of paintings are inspired by the above, as well as by a mandala my husband and I bought in Dharamshala, India, in 2019, designed by the Dalai Lama.

Each painting has a specific color system. Complementary, split complementary, triad, analogous, monochromatic, or personal.  They all have a thin transparent layer of ‘Pearlescent White’, put on top of the dry paint and then wiped off to give the colors a pearlescent sheen like we see on some sea shells.  The effect is that the colors will appear different in different light.  Sometimes one will see brilliant colors and sometimes veiled.

As in all of my work, they are ‘visual meditations’.  Mandalas of my experience as a woman artist of the zeitgeist of the times I am living in.
