Description from the Artist:

Café de Olla means “coffee in a pot” made by women on the battlefields of the Mexican Revolution to fortify their men with rich, nutritious, flavorful coffee. This banner is intentionally rustic, dyed with a blend of coffees, then embellished with sparkling beads to honor these courageous women. The symbols represent ingredients in Laura’s family recipe, passed down to her along with her mother’s cherished olla. From the top they are star anise, oranges, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and piloncillo that comes in a traditional cone of dark sugar cane crystals.
