Exhibition Timeline Page

  • When an exhibition opens to the public, the online submission portal to the next exhibition becomes available that very same day. The online submission portal will close on the Thursday before the new exhibition opens at 11:59 PM. Submitting your artwork online is mandatory. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces of art before the submission portal closes.

  • Once the online submission is completed, artists will receive an emailed receipt with a direct link to upload images of their artwork. Artists must upload quality images of their submitted artwork before Ingathering. Images must use the following naming format: FirstName_LastName_Title . If you are unable to upload your images with the direct link, please email them to Christy@carpinteriaARTScenter.org before Ingathering.

  • Ingathering is when artists physically drop off their artwork. Carpinteria Arts Center ingatherings always take place on a Monday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. During this time, our Ingathering Team will check in your artwork and verify that it meets our submission requirements. Artwork dropped off after the Ingathering window will NOT be accepted.
  • If you are unable to make it to Ingathering, you have 2 options:

    • Contact our Gallery Coordinator, Celeste, and arrange a time to drop off your work before the Ingathering date.

    • Ask a friend or family member to drop off artwork on your behalf during ingathering.
  • For each exhibition, two selected jurors will determine which artworks best embody the exhibit's theme. Christy will email you on Tuesday evening to let you know whether your work was selected, along with instructions for pickup if necessary. Due to the high volume of artwork submitted for each exhibit, our jurors are unable to provide specific feedback on why a piece was not selected.

  • The Installation Team hangs the exhibit on Wednesday morning. If your artwork requires special install considerations that are beyond the scope of the Installation Team’s abilities, Celeste may ask that you be present to assist the team with installing your work. If the Installation Team determines that they cannot properly or safely install the artwork, the work’s acceptance may be rescinded.
Sold Artwork
  • Because of the dynamic nature of our Buy-It & Take-It model, artists will be notified when artwork is sold and asked to present an additional piece of artwork to replace the sold piece. Providing a replacement piece is not required, but is highly encouraged. We ask that replacement artwork be no larger than the piece that was sold, and that the replacement artwork matches the current theme of the exhibit.
    • Before dropping off replacement artwork, artists MUST email Christy@carpinteriaARTScenter.org with the following information before dropping off artwork:
      • A quality photograph of the artwork.
      • Title.
      • Medium.
      • Price.
      • Dimensions.
      • A brief description.
  • Please allow 30 days for the recording and processing of sold artwork to receive a check in the mail. For further questions about payment processing, you may email our Senior Accountant Elsa@carpinteriaARTScenter.org.
Bin Art
  • Artists who have been selected into the current exhibit may drop off up to 5 pieces of Bin Art during our Gallery Open Hours: Thursday through Monday, 12:00 - 4:00 PM. Please see bin art instructions and rules.

  • All Carpinteria Arts Center receptions are free, open to the public, and include light refreshments. Artists are highly encouraged to attend the exhibit's opening reception and to invite friends and family via social media. Receptions are an excellent opportunity to network with fellow artists, art enthusiasts, collectors and potential clients.
  • One week prior to the end of an exhibit, with detailed instructions for picking up any unsoled artwork, including bin art. Artists may begin picking up their unsold artwork no sooner tan the last day of an exhibition (always a Sunday).
  • Artists submitting to the next opening exhibit may collect their unsold artwork the following day during Ingathering.
  • If you are unable to pick up within these two days, please arrange an alternative pick-up time with Celeste. You have 30 days from the last day of the exhibition to pick up your artwork. Artwork left past this date will be considered abandoned, and will taken in as a donation to the Carpinteria Arts Center.
