Celebrating Lives Well Lived in a Community Well Loved

The Carpinteria Healthy Aging Hub is a community-based, person-centered activity hub for adults living with dementia offered by the Friendship Center at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center. Our day programs offer high-quality care while re-engaging individuals with their community at a time in their lives when seclusion and isolation are significantly more likely. Our setting at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center provides a natural, outdoor landscape reflective of the cultural richness of our community, creating a familiar and comforting setting in which our members feel proud and seen.

Friendship Center's expertly trained, non-clinical staff provides supervision throughout the day, ensuring each member is safe, respected, and engaged. We communicate closely with families about any updates or observations.

Elements of the Carpinteria Healthy Aging Club

Welcome to our community-driven space where older adults living with dementia can stay engaged, connected, and valued. Through meaningful activities, local partnerships, and caregiver support, we create a place where every participant feels a sense of purpose and belonging.

Meaningful Engagement

More than just activities—our programs spark creativity, connection, and joy through movement, music, art, and storytelling. Designed for adults living with cognitive impairment, our supervised and structured yet flexible approach ensures that each day is purposeful and fulfilling.

Community Connection

Carpinteria is at the heart of this program. Local businesses, volunteers, and organizations play an active role, hosting workshops, sharing their expertise, and creating intergenerational experiences that bridge the past and present.

Caregiver Support

Caregiving is a journey, and no one should walk it alone. Through respite services, support groups, educational workshops, and one-on-one guidance, we provide caregivers with the tools, relief, and reassurance they need to navigate dementia care with confidence.

A Space for All to Enjoy

Located at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center, the Carpinteria Healthy Aging Hub is woven into the fabric of the community. The hub is a place where older adults remain visible, valued, and actively engaged in the life of the town—from enjoying the arts to participating in local events.

Dementia Day Care Benefits

Everyone who comes to the Carpinteria Healthy Aging Hub feels the love right away. Friendship Center's highly trained and dedicated staff makes members feel welcomed and safe. By designing activities around our members’ unique preferences and needs, we enable them to spend their golden years doing whatever makes them happiest.

Dementia day care benefits include:

Adult day programs provide opportunities for individuals with dementia to interact with others and participate in engaging activities, which can help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Day programs like ours provide caregivers with a much-needed break from their caregiving responsibilities, allowing them to recharge and reduce stress.

Activities and programs offered at adult day programs can help to stimulate the mind and maintain cognitive function.

By providing a safe and supportive environment, the Center can help to improve the overall quality of life for individuals with dementia.

Day programs and fulfilling activities help individuals with dementia maintain their independence and feel more empowered.
