Monarch Refuge
Artist: Kelly Hildner
Medium: Watercolor
Dimensions: 8H x 10W x 1D
Description: This painting captures monarch butterflies clustered among sunlit eucalyptus leaves in the Ellwood monarch grove. The dynamic contrast between the luminous green foliage and the deep blue-purple background makes the orange monarchs stand out, drawing attention to their delicate forms. One butterfly is shown in flight, adding a sense of movement to the otherwise still scene. Monarch Refuge honors this seasonal gathering and the value of preserving the open spaces that support both wildlife and moments of quiet beauty.
