Grown-Up Summer Camp 2025 – Wonderful World of Color!

July 28 – August 1; 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Price: $330/$300 Members
Monday – Sashiko with Christie Boyd - Sashiko (meaning “little stabs”) is a very simple stitching technique that originated in Japan over 400 years ago and is a popular form of decorative reinforcement stitching. You will learn and apply several basic sashiko designs.
Tuesday – Painting with Scissors with Karen Ard – Using scissors and colorful papers, you will create beautiful artwork in the style of Henri Matisse.
Wednesday – Brusho with Laura Denny - Explore the explosive magic of Brusho color crystals! When applied to wet paper, crystals bloom and produce additional unexpected colors. Once Brusho papers have dried, small portions will be cut and arranged to make small card-sized compositions.
Thursday – Painting Animal Portraits with Jana Brody - Come paint your favorite animal on canvas! Bring an 8” x 10” close-up color copy of your beloved animal (or someone else’s!) and in this two-hour workshop you will create a keepsake work of art.
Friday – Cupcake Decorating with Danica Dahn - End the week on a sweet note by making “Enchanted Forest Cupcakes.” These cupcakes will have you sculpting mushrooms, applying edible moss and dirt, and piping small flowers or leaves.
In the event that you are unable to attend a class or tour, a full refund for registration fees may be issued if your request is received at least 45 days before your program start date. If your request is received within 44 to 11 days of your program start date we will refund 50%. If you need to cancel within 10 days or less, unfortunately no refund can be issued. Certain programs and events are transferable to another person. If a program is cancelled by The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center, we will issue a full refund. Please be aware that some programs are non-refundable and this information will be specifically noted in the program description.
