Description: Despite being made of tightly wound and enjoined strips of magazines, the sides of this twister are askew and dare the viewer to test its integrity as a container, as its shape would imply. While crafting each of these 149 colorful spirals (sourced from 18 upcycled magazines), the artist contemplated the implications and ramifications of the day's headlines. The choice of colors, images, and patterns placed on the outside of each spiral swayed between a reflection of the world as she wants to see it, and escapism from the challenges our communities are facing. Ultimately, the piece asks each viewer whether it is chaos lightly held together, or order masquerading as disarray.
