Description: I created this piece as a social commentary to depict and express the challenges immigrants face when coming to America. To start, my family has many cousins and relatives in Mexico who have had to overcome many challenges trying to work, visit, or live here. A common recurring obstacle for my family has been those coming here having to wait 10 to even 30 years just waiting to gain citizenship, only to be brutally deported. Some were even deported after gaining citizenship. It truly breaks my heart that these are the results of a dysfunctional system that is actively hurting people who aren't even the targeted individuals who would come to this country to cause harm. I have hope that our nation can reform this system to better benefit and show love to anyone who comes to this country, while maintaining the safety of our home.
