Description: B-Home reimagines the concept of functional sculpture at the intersection of geometric abstraction and ecological stewardship. Inspired by the Pollinator Habitat Project in Carpinteria, this piece transforms the utilitarian structure of a native bee house into functional art. By marrying my lifelong study of geometric shapes with the specific needs of native pollinators, I have developed a design that combines organic, tactile bark textures onto precise, 3D-modeled metallic filaments. This juxtaposition explores the tension between the natural world and the engineered, offering a habitat that serves the environment while standing as a sophisticated object of art. B-Home invites viewers to consider how functional design can simultaneously cultivate biodiversity and challenge our perceptions of geometric expression.
